Liverpool ‘ready to pay over the odds’ for £51m midfielder

Arne Slot will be eager to add to his Liverpool squad this summer as the Reds look to push themselves even further next season.

Slot has had an impressive debut season on Merseyside, having already picked up the Premier League title with little competition from elsewhere.

However, Liverpool’s rivals are expected to add to their squads during the summer transfer window, meaning the Reds also need to be prepared to add to their group of players.

Liverpool preparing bid for Angelo Stiller

Slot is ready to look at adding to his options in the middle of the park and one man on the list of targets is Angelo Stiller from Stuttgart.

The midfielder is reportedly in high demand ahead of the summer transfer window and if the Reds want to secure his services, they will have to beat the likes of Real Madrid to secure his signature.

While the competition could be fierce, Slot is said to be particularly keen on securing the signing of Stiller to increase his options in the middle of the park, and it seems as though he could be ready to go all out for this transfer.

It was previously reported that the 24-year-old is valued at £42.5million.

However, Spanish news outlet Fichajes have reported (1 May) that Liverpool are prepared to go higher than the valuation and cough up £51million to complete the transfer.

Stiller could be exactly what Liverpool need

The Reds have done extremely well to secure the futures of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk on new contracts at Anfield and they will certainly have their part to play in success going forward.

However, Slot now needs to focus on bringing fresh talent into his team, who can be developed in mind for the future – Stiller is someone who fits that bill.

Stiller has been solid for Stuttgart this season.

Although he is still young, he has been a strong player in the Bundesliga so far and helped his side reach the Champions League last season, meaning he has the top experience that is needed.

Ryan Gravenberch has been solid for the Reds this term, but a lack of depth has seen him overplayed, meaning this could solve that problem, while also being able to play alongside the Dutchman.

When you consider the solutions this transfer could provide, it’s easy to see why Slot is keen to push for it to happen.
