Liverpool to ‘sign Alexander Isak instead’ after £100m news from Brighton
Arne Slot has had an excellent first season with Liverpool, but the pressure is on to achieve more.
The Reds have one hand on the Premier League trophy already as they sit 12 points clear of Arsenal, who are second in the table.
However, after suggestions that their league rivals’ bad luck has played a bigger part than Liverpool’s quality in their success this season, Slot will be eager to recruit in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool to sign Joao Pedro from Brighton
There has been plenty of chatter about potential exits from Anfield leading up to the summer transfer window.
Trent Alexander-Arnold looks set to leave his boyhood club to join Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract, which has prompted some harsh reactions from Liverpool supporters.
Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah also see their contracts expire at the end of the current campaign and, as it stands, there has been no major breakthrough in securing the future of either player.
Although resolving these contract talks is vitally important, the manager has also been turning his attention to potential incoming players at Anfield for the new season.
The Reds are eyeing up a new striker and, according to talkSPORT (1 April), one man on that list is Brighton’s Joao Pedro.
The 23-year-old has scored eight goals and contributed three assists in 23 Premier League appearances for the Seagulls this term.
However, if the Merseyside outfit want to secure his services, it will cost up to £100million.

Liverpool given Alexander Isak push
Pedro has had a good season with Brighton, but if that is the price tag that Brighton are putting on him ahead of the summer window, surely that pushes them to Alexander Isak.
Isak has been in red-hot form for Newcastle United this season, and some have labelled him one of, if not the best, in Europe right now.
The Magpies are not keen on letting their starman go and an official price tag has not yet been revealed, but it has been suggested that Newcastle will push for a price upwards of £100m if they were to lose such an asset.
Appearances | Goals | Assists | |
Joao Pedro | 23 | 8 | 3 |
Alexander Isak | 25 | 19 | 5 |
However, when you consider the form of both Pedro and Isak this term, at clubs that have had similar seasons, it does pose the question of why you wouldn’t push the boat out for the higher-quality player if you are willing to spend a high amount anyway.
Isak showed what he could do first-hand against Liverpool with a goal in their Carabao Cup final win, and the 25-year-old looks set for plenty more success.
Newcastle will be stubborn on this one, but it seems that Liverpool are going to have to be prepared to spend big for whichever striker they settle on this summer.
