Liverpool fans react to ‘sickening’ £150m Alexander Isak update – ‘Salah’s gone’

Liverpool supporters have been left sweating over Mohamed Salah’s future amid an update regarding Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak.

The Egyptian is out of contract at the end of the season and the Anfield club are yet to agree a new deal with the 32-year-old.

Liverpool have been linked with Newcastle star Isak, and while that move would be exciting, a new update has led to concern rising among the fanbase.

Liverpool intensify Isak pursuit

Liverpool have reportedly received encouragement from Isak’s entourage in recent weeks and now the transfer has taken a new twist.

A report from Sky Sports Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri (3 March) stated that the L4 outfit have intensified their pursuit of the Swedish international.

It claims that the Reds have contacted the 25-year-old’s representatives and are prepared to make an offer in the summer, with the Magpies setting a £150million price.

Isak transfer could see Salah depart

If Liverpool are willing to sanction a £150m deal for Isak, it may suggest that Salah is not expected to sign a new deal.

That is unthinkable, given the Egyptian’s ridiculous form this season, which has him on track for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award in what could be his final campaign at Anfield.

The veteran has scored 30 goals and 22 assists in 39 matches in all competitions and is the main reason that the Reds are in pole position for Premier League and Champions League glory in Arne Slot’s first season in the dugout.

Isak has put together an impressive season himself for Eddie Howe’s side, notching 22 goals and five assists in 31 games but if signing him meant losing Salah, it would ultimately be a major blow for the Anfield outfit.

However, if the Merseysiders could resign Salah and bring the Magpies ace to the club by selling the likes of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, or Darwin Nunez, it would be a masterstroke and put them in a great position for further success.

A frontline with Salah and Isak would cause problems for any defence in world football. It is a tantalising prospect for Reds supporters – and a frightening one for neutrals and rivals.
