Liverpool fans gutted by Cody Gakpo injury update – ‘We are cooked’
Liverpool supporters have been left worried by the latest update on Cody Gakpo’s situation ahead of their Champions League clash against Paris St-Germain.
The Reds are currently gearing themselves up to play the first leg of their Champions League tie against the Ligue 1 outfit on Wednesday.
Arne Slot’s men managed to top the Champions League table in the last stage of the competition and are now facing their hardest challenge thus far.
The Reds will no doubt want all of their best players available to choose from ahead of the clash but at the moment, it’s unclear whether Gakpo will be fit.
Gakpo could miss out on Liverpool v PSG after training absence
Gakpo has been one of Liverpool’s best attackers this season with the Dutchman netting himself 16 goals thus far.
Players such as Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have both tried to take on an important role in Slot’s attack this season, much like the former PSV man has, but in the end, Gakpo has come out on top.
So, it’s not a surprise to see one fan saying that he’s “hoping he’s okay” while another claimed that the Reds are now “cooked” due to Gakpo’s absence from Tuesday’s training session.
However, he may have taken part in an individual session which could help explain his absence.
Liverpool need Gakpo for Champions League tie
While the likes of Nunez and Diaz will no doubt give their all to try and put in a strong performance for the Reds, there’s no denying that on current form, Gakpo is the better choice to lead the line.
Slot may not have chosen to use the Dutchman in a central role as often as his teammates but when used there, he’s proven his dominance.

Gakpo’s keen eye for a pass and his ability to hold up play will no doubt be essential if Liverpool want to triumph over Luis Enrique’s men, especially if they don’t want to have to solely rely upon Mohamed Salah to deliver the win.
If he isn’t available, Slot’s men will be at a massive disadvantage and, with the game being away from home, they’re going to need all the help they can possibly get to advance.
Here’s hoping that the medical team were just being cautious and giving him time to recover before the game.
