Slot must take risk on Curtis Jones v PSG after what he did for Liverpool
Curtis Jones has to be in Liverpool’s starting XI for their upcoming Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
Arne Slot’s men have been one of the most dominant forces in world football this season with the Reds topping the Champions League table as well as being 13 points clear of second-placed Arsenal in the Premier League.
After their comfortable 2-0 win over Newcastle on Wednesday, the Reds already have one hand on the title.
However, Liverpool’s attention must now turn to the UEFA Champions League, with a trip to Paris to come on 5 March.
And, after the cameo appearance of Jones against the Magpies, the midfielder needs to start.

Slot must start Jones over Alexis Mac Allister
Liverpool’s midfield trio has been constantly changed this season due to the sheer amount of quality they have in that department.
Alexis Mac Allister has once again had an impressive campaign for the Merseyside outfit with the Argentina international forming a solid partnership with Dominik Szoboszlai, who is also in top form.
However, with the cameo that Jones put in against Eddie Howe’s men, he deserves a place in Slot’s starting XI versus PSG.
Team | Position | Points |
Liverpool | 1st | 67 |
Arsenal | 2nd | 54 |
Nottingham Forest | 3rd | 48 |
Manchester City | 4th | 47 |
As per Sofascore, Jones managed to maintain a pass accuracy of 91 per cent in his 11 minutes on the pitch and had 12 touches of the ball.
Of the 10 accurate passes he made at the end of the game, one was deemed a key pass and while he didn’t get an assist, his forward passing was a sight to behold.
The one long ball he attempted made it to its intended target and defensively, he was also fairly solid.
Jones won 100 per cent of the ground duels he attempted, made one tackle and only lost possession of the ball once.

Jones could be key to breaking the PSG defence
Paris Saint-Germain are having a solid season themselves with Luis Enrique’s men only conceding 22 goals in Ligue 1 so far.
Players such as Marquinhos have been the stars of the show for the Ligue 1 outfit and will no doubt be fairly tough for Liverpool to break down on 5 March.
But, if Slot chooses to take the risk and start Jones over Mac Allister, it may end up being one of the best decisions he could make.
His pace both on and off the ball and his keen eye for a pass are among the things that make him perfect for the game.
Only time will tell what the future holds but at the moment, it’s anyone’s guess how he’s going to choose to line his team up.
