Liverpool could consider offers for Darwin Nunez after Slot crunch talks

Liverpool could be set to consider offers for Darwin Nunez after crunch talks with Arne Slot, according to Caught Offside.

The online outlet (6 January) reports that the Anfield club would be looking for a fee in the region of £50-60million for the Uruguayan forward.

It states that Slot has held crunch talks with the 25-year-old about his disappointing form this term with issues identified with his consistency and lack of contributions.

No approaches are understood to have been made for the attacker who has two goals and two assists in 15 Premier League matches this season.

Nunez continues to frustrate at Liverpool

The Uruguay international has struggled to justify the £65m fee that the Reds spent to bring him to Merseyside in 2022.

His Anfield career to date has been extremely underwhelming with 37 goals and 20 assists in 120 matches for the club.

Nobody can fault his work-rate and effort but his lack of finishing, decision-making skills, and composure leave a lot to be desired for both supporters and his head coach.

He was booked for smashing into Matthijs de Ligt when the ball was nowhere near in his 29-minute cameo in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United on 6 January, which means he will be suspended for the Nottingham Forest contest (14 January).

That incident sums up his Reds career and with the former Benfica man behind both Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in the pecking order, his time on Merseyside could be over soon.

Slot needs a reliable goalscoring number nine if his side are going to win the league title and Nunez does not fit that profile given the evidence so far in his time at Liverpool.

In other Liverpool news, Slot has an easy decision to make amid Crystal Palace interest in Ben Doak.
