Liverpool loanee Ben Doak has impressed on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship this season.

His impressive form has led to Crystal Palace making a £15million bid for the Scottish star on 3 January, which was rejected by the Reds, who are seeking closer to £30m [Paul Joyce].

The Eagles are expected to return with an improved offer for the 19-year-old, according to BBC Sport reporter Alex Howell (6 December).

However, Arne Slot's side should reject any bids and let him continue with Boro before integrating him into the first-team squad next season.

Liverpool should keep Ben Doak

The young star has finally emerged as a legitimate threat in his first taste of regular senior football.

He is thriving in the second tier with two goals and six assists in 21 matches for Michael Carrick's side as they sit fifth in the league.

He made his senior international debut in September as a substitute in the 3-2 defeat to Poland and notched his first contribution in the reverse fixture in November.

He showed glimpses of his quality when getting the best of Manchester City star Josko Gvardiol in the 1-0 victory over Croatia and it was his dangerous cross that was parried into John McGinn's path for the only goal of the contest.

With the potential that the former Celtic man has and his performances on loan so far this campaign, the Reds would be foolish to not give him a chance in the senior squad before letting him move on.

If they do sanction a move to a fellow top-flight club it should either be a loan move or have a buy-back clause put in the deal.

The last thing they should do is cash in this month for a fee well below his true valuation.
