Liverpool are in the market for a new right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to depart Anfield.

The 26-year-old has won everything with his boyhood club and will leave when his contract expires as the end of the season, with a move to Real Madrid expected to be on the cards.

Conor Bradley has been touted as the perfect successor for the England star but he has had injury issues since emerging as a first-team prospect, so the Reds could enter the transfer window to strengthen their hand in the position.

Liverpool want to sign £20m rated Read

Arne Slot handed Givairo Read his senior debut in his spell in the Feyenoord dugout and he could be set to bring him to Merseyside.

A report from the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (11 May, page 62) claims that the Reds are strong admirers of the 18-year-old.

It states that the Netherlands Under-19s captain is rated at £20million by the Dutch club and is also attracting interest from Barcelona and Chelsea.

Read can be a solid option for Liverpool

The five-cap Under-19 international has featured 30 times for Slot's former club this season, notching two goals and eight assists.

Read went into the campaign as the Rotterdam-based outfit's third-choice right-back but has taken his opportunity to become the starter in a remarkable breakout season.

He is brilliant going forward as highlighted by his assist tally, as he has the pace required to beat defenders and deliver a deadly cross, albeit not as dangerous as Alexander-Arnold's ridiculous passing range.

The Dutch prospect is also solid defensively, something which the Three Lions ace has been criticised for throughout his Anfield and international career.

Read would likely be a long-term project for the L4 outfit, initially being eased in and providing backup for Bradley, while maybe stepping in when the Northern Irishman is injured.

It remains to be seen whether the Reds can complete a deal for the highly-rated youngster but it would be an exciting addition to an already loaded squad as Slot seeks to retain the Premier League title after a stunning first campaign in England.
