Kaide Gordon is set to join Portsmouth on loan from Liverpool, according to James Pearce.

The Liverpool journalist reported via The Athletic website on 2 February that the highly-rated 20-year-old will spend the rest of the season at the Championship club.

Arne Slot's side have been seeking an ideal club for Gordon since recalling him from his loan at Norwich City, with Pompey now on the verge of taking him to Fratton Park.

Kaide Gordon to continue development away from Liverpool

The Reds signed Gordon from Derby County for a deal worth up to £3.4million in February 2021.

He has since made seven appearances across all competitions for the Merseyside-based club, netting in a 4-1 FA Cup win against Shrewsbury in January 2022.

Having opened his account for the Anfield outfit at the age of just 17, he became the second-youngest scorer in the club's history.

However, Gordon's development hit a snag following injury setbacks, with the Premier League giants eventually sending him out on loan to Norwich for this season.

The Burton-on-Trent footballer, though, found playing time hard to come by at Carrow Road, accruing just 177 minutes of Championship action before returning to the AXA training centre in January.

Gordon resumed training with the Liverpool Under-21s, but will now hope to get his season back on track at Portsmouth.

John Mousinho's side are battling relegation in the second division as they sit 20th in the table after 30 games.

It will be a huge boost of confidence to Gordon if he can help Pompey stay in the Championship.
