Liverpool boss Arne Slot could be forced to hand Amara Nallo his senior debut sooner rather than later after Ibrahima Konate's injury.

The French defender is set to be out for a considerable period after picking up an injury in the 2-0 victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday (27 November).

That leaves the Reds with just three options at centre-back in the first-team squad with just Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah available for Slot to choose from.

With nine games in 29 days, including matches against Manchester City, Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham, Slot may have to call up a player from the youth setup to rest his starters as his side seek to maintain their lead in the Premier League table and Nallo is his best choice.

Amara Nallo could make Liverpool debut

The 18-year-old moved to Merseyside from West Ham United and was promoted to the Under-21s in October 2023, just two months after joining the Reds.

He was included in the first-team squad on two occasions last season - for the FA cup match with Southampton and the Premier League contest with Manchester City.

He is yet to make his senior debut but it is surely only a matter of time with the club lacking depth at centre-back after Konate's injury.

Former West Ham star Carlton Cole told the Hammers' official website in May 2023 that Nallo was "a Rolls Royce of a defender" and said he has "a great left foot and is elegant when he moves with the ball."

The U16s coach added that "he can play the ball with both feet and has been working on his heading as well. He’s a player who has a high ceiling."

That will music to Slot's ears and Reds fans may finally get to witness their potential future star at some point in the near future.
