Alexander Isak looks set to make his Liverpool debut at Burnley on Sunday.

Isak joined Liverpool on deadline day for £125million from Newcastle United in what has become a British record transfer fee.

Isak had been training on his own at Newcastle after going on strike, a decision which has seen his minutes for Sweden restricted against Slovenia and Kosovo.

Arne Slot is set to ease Isak into his Liverpool side slowly after the striker saw no pre-season action, and details of a WhatsApp conversation have surfaced ahead of the trip to Turf Moor.

Arne Slot likely told Alexander Isak to be careful on international duty

Isak faced several injury issues during his time at Newcastle, with the most notable being a thigh injury that kept him sidelined for 18 games in his debut campaign.

This had a significant effect on the Magpies' form, with Eddie Howe's side failing to see a victory last season without their star centre-forward.

With Isak's injury history in mind, Lewis Steele has revealed that Slot messaged his new striker on WhatsApp during the international break with instructions on what to do.

In the Mail on Sunday (14 September), Steele said: "Arne Slot sent a few WhatsApp messages to Alexander Isak over the international break and, though we are not privy to those conversations, one likes to imagine them as similar to a concerned parent and child.

"'Go careful, Alex,' they might have read. Instead of the 'Don't drink too much' mothers send to young sons going on a foreign trip, the football equivalent may have been 'Don't go playing too much football while on international duty'."

He later says: "Luckily, Isak gave Slot his wish, to which end the Liverpool boss also sent his regards to Sweden boss Jon Dahl Tomasson."

Arne Slot needs to unleash Alexander Isak gradually

Liverpool fans cannot contain their excitement at seeing their new record signing take the field for the first time.

Liverpool travel to Burnley on Sunday afternoon, looking to extend their perfect start to the new season, with Isak's potential debut being the big talking point.

However, with big games against Atletico Madrid and Everton coming up next week, Slot mustn't rush into action by putting the Swede in straight away and unnecessarily risking injury.

A substitute appearance at Turf Moor is highly likely, while a first start for the superstar could come at Anfield in the coming days.
