Fabio Carvalho is expected to get his chance to impress new Liverpool manager Arne Slot in pre-season according to The Mirror.

Writing on their website (28 June), Carvalho will be allowed to impress when pre-season preparations begin next month.

Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Cody Cakpo are on international duty, meaning there will be chances for Carvalho.

The 21-year-old endured a torrid loan spell last season at RB Leipzig during the first half of the campaign.

He was recalled and sent back out to Hull City alongside teammate Tyler Morton and impressed in the Championship.

Fabio Carvalho still has a future at Liverpool

Carvalho struggled to find his way into the first team during his debut year at Liverpool.

Despite scoring a dramatic 98-minute winner against Newcastle at Anfield he was selected mostly on the bench.

The Portuguese international spoke out on Jurgen Klopp's lack of faith in him (This is Anfield, 24 March) but seems determined to get going at Anfield.

After nine goals and two assists in 20 Championship appearances, it's time for him to make the step up for the Reds.

As per Transfermarkt, he scored those goals as a forward for Hull rather than his preferred attacking midfield spot.

The versatility that Carvalho brings could prove to be a useful asset for Slot as he prepares for his first season at Liverpool.

As the Reds enter their most fixture-congested season with the new Champions League format, Slot will need a big squad.

His loan to RB Leipzig acts as a warning to potentially letting him leave for another season. Carvalho needs to take this opportunity to impress and force himself into Slot's plans.
