Liverpool Women hope to complete a loan deal for Chelsea left-back Alejandra Bernabe, according to Emma Sanders.

The Reds have already completed the signings of Sam Kerr and Julia Bartel on loan until the end of the season in the winter transfer window.

The BBC Sport reporter had earlier revealed (30 January) that Matt Beard's side were targeting one more temporary signing before the 11 pm deadline on Thursday.

Liverpool Women strengthen with loans

The Reds sit seventh in the Women's Super League with 12 points from 12 matches in what has been a disappointing campaign.

They finished fourth in the WSL last season but do not look like repeating that success this year after suffering key injuries and not spending as much as their rivals.

Matt Beard admitted that the Reds do not have the resources that the top clubs in the division have at their disposal (BBC Sport).

They have been buoyed by the returns of Sophie Roman Haug and Marie Hobinger in recent weeks but whether they can turn around the season remains to be seen.

Beard will hope that his new additions can have a positive effect on the squad and raise the level of the rest of his players as the season goes on.

The Spanish full-back has made just one league appearance for the West Londoners so far this season but made 31 appearances for Real Sociedad in the 2023/24 campaign.
