Chris Sutton hits out at Alexander Isak ‘disgrace’ tonight amid Liverpool latest

Alexander Isak has come under more fire this summer as the Newcastle United talisman continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool.

With deadline day on the horizon, that means the Liverpool and Isak transfer saga will finally come to an end, and everyone can begin to turn their full attention to matters on the pitch.

Isak’s desire to never play for Newcastle again has been well documented, the striker refusing to play in any of Newcastle’s opening three Premier League games.

Unsurprisingly, this included Liverpool’s game against Newcastle, as Arne Slot’s side secured a dramatic win at St James’ Park, but the Sweden international’s conduct has again been criticised, this time by Chris Sutton.

Chris Sutton blasts Alexander Isak after Elland Road absence

With Liverpool supporters’ attention being on their upcoming clash against Arsenal, they may not have paid attention to Newcastle’s draw away at Elland Road against Leeds United.

Isak’s absence was obviously apparent again in a largely lacklustre performance from Newcastle, who left West Yorkshire after having only created 0.42 xG.

Sutton put a large portion of the blame on the 25-year-old’s doorstep as Isak is determined to force through his Liverpool move.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Sutton said: “If Alexander Isak doesn’t get the move, he’s going to have to try and integrate his way back into the team. He’s going to have to play.

“Other than that, what’s he going to do? Rot? He doesn’t have a choice. He should never, ever have thrown his toys out of the pram. Disgraceful.”

It comes amid reports on Saturday that a deal to take Isak from Newcastle to Liverpool is “done”.

Alexander Isak could struggle at Anfield

Whilst Isak sits and strops until he ends up in a red shirt, Hugo Ekitike has been lighting it up for the Reds, scoring two goals in his opening two Premier League games.

With Isak not being involved in team training for a lengthy spell, there is a concern about the condition that the striker arrives at Merseyside in if he eventually completes the move to Anfield.

Instead of attempting to embed Isak and get him up to speed, Slot could easily just keep the in-form Ekitike in his starting XI until he needs to make a change.

Although Isak’s antics may get him his desired move, they may also have prevented him from coming into Liverpool and immediately becoming the main man, whilst hitting the ground running.
