Arne Slot pulls off another blinder as Jurgen Klopp-loving coach set for Anfield move

Liverpool have moved to further revamp their backroom coaching staff, and Arne Slot has recruited another top assistant.

Former Everton defender John Heitinga was a surprise appointment at Anfield last year, but this proved to be a masterstroke as Liverpool’s best youngsters can now join him on loan at Ajax.

Giovani van Bronckhorst was another big-name arrival at Liverpool this summer, with the former Netherlands defender enjoying a managerial career before stepping back to an assistant role.

Slot has now moved to bring in another experienced member of staff, and his new hire already has an affinity for Liverpool.

Liverpool to hire Luiz Fernando lubel

Liverpool have now pulled off a coup as they have agreed a deal to bring Brazilian-born coach Luiz Fernando Iubel to Anfield from Atletico Mineiro.

James Pearce from The Athletic have reported that Iubel will arrive as a new individual development lead coach, and will begin work on September 1.

Liverpool have several outstanding youngsters including Rio Ngumoha, and Iubel’s appointment will see him work alongside them to aid their development.

Iubel’s appointment means that Aaron Briggs will shift roles internally to become a set-piece coach in a reshuffle as Slot’s coaching roster now has a new look.

Luiz Fernando Iubel idolises Jurgen Klopp

For Iubel, joining Liverpool is a dream move for him as he idolises legendary manager Jurgen Klopp, as he revealed in an interview with GE Globo last year.

“I’m a German citizen, so because of my background, my main role model in general is Jurgen Klopp,” he revealed.

“So much so that my dog is named Jurgen Klopp, in honour of him.

“He has an attacking style of play, but he manages to connect with the fans, the environment, the club, and foster a winning mentality. I had the opportunity to visit him in 2018 at Liverpool.”

Iubel previously visited Anfield as a fan, and as a coach aiming to learn from Klopp, and now he will work directly under his successor as Liverpool aims to defend their Premier League title.
