Liverpool and Trent Alexander-Arnold parted ways in controversial fashion earlier this summer.

The boyhood red refused to sign a new deal after 20 years at the club, and Real Madrid would ultimately pay to release Alexander-Arnold from his Anfield contract early.

However, Alexander-Arnold's La Liga debut for Real Madrid in the 1-0 win over Osasuna was underwhelming, which left Liverpool supporters ecstatic.

And they will love a new revelation that has now been made about Alexander-Arnold's future in the Spanish capital.

Former Real Madrid star says Alexander-Arnold may be dropped

Alexander-Arnold was also slammed by the Spanish media for the display, and now a former La Liga star has claimed that he will be benched.

With Dani Carvajal set to return to action, ex-Getafe and Sevilla ace Javier Casquero claims the ex-Reds star will be forced to watch from the sidelines, which would leave Reds fans laughing hysterically.

In quotes reported by Football Espana on 22 August, he said: “If Carvajal returns to his full form, Trent should start preparing for the Real Madrid bench."

Liverpool fans will love Alexander-Arnold struggles

Liverpool supporters do not begrudge the England star for wanting a new adventure and wanting to experience the wider fame and fortune that comes with the 15-time Champions League winners.

They dislike him because of the way that he left, running down his contract and leaving the club that made him for a minimal fee, rather than the over £100million that he would have commanded in the open market.

  • Alexander-Arnold made 354 appearances for the Reds
  • He won eight major trophies with the Anfield club, including two league titles and a Champions League
  • His value is £65million, according to Transfermarkt

There is also the way that Madrid conducted themselves, with constant leaks about their interest in the media, threatening to derail the L4 outfit's season as they pushed for the Premier League title.

Reds supporters defended the 26-year-old whenever he was piled on by the media or Gary Neville, or left out of the England squad, and many felt he threw that right back at them when he left.

Therefore, they will love the fact that he is not having everything go his way and he is struggling to impress in Spain.
