Luiz Diaz to ‘demand Liverpool exit’ after new Bayern Munich reveal

Luiz Diaz could be set to leave Liverpool this summer.

The winger has reportedly received interest from several clubs, including Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool rebuffed an enquiry made by Barcelona earlier in the window, but contract talks with Diaz have hit a stumbling block with the winger now open to exploring other opportunities.

Diaz wants to join Bayern

Diaz enjoyed a productive season for Liverpool as Arne Slot’s side saw off the challenge of Arsenal to win the Premier League at a canter.

Netting 13 goals and providing seven assists, the winger formed a dangerous duo with the relentless force of Mohamed Salah.

But the transfer window has uncovered uncertainty about the winger’s future at Anfield, with Diaz’s camp reportedly unhappy with the way Liverpool have handled talks over fresh terms.

Interest from elsewhere also appears to have unsettled the Colombian, who now looks to be open to exploring new opportunities.

According to BILD+ (July 7), Diaz has informed Bayern Munich of his desire to join the German club, who are expected to follow up with an offer.

The report states that the Liverpool winger has risen to the top of the list of targets at The Allianz, after Bayern failed in efforts to sign Nico Williams and Bradley Barcola.

The Bundesliga champions are on the hunt for a marquee signing in attack, after Leroy Sane left the club for Turkish giants Galatasaray following the end of his contract.

Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry remain in Munich but have failed to impress in recent seasons, whilst Jamal Musiala’s serious injury, suffered in the Club World Cup quarter-final on Saturday (July 5), has only intensified efforts.

Diaz will be difficult to replace

Diaz has frustrated Liverpool fans at times, often displaying lacklustre finishing and questionable decision-making.

But the Colombian’s raw output is hard to argue against. In 148 appearances since his arrival from Porto in 2022, Diaz has scored 41 goals and provided 23 assists.

The winger will be difficult to replace, with the market for left-sided attackers seeming increasingly finite.

Rodrygo could become available later this summer, but Liverpool would be unwise to risk losing a battle for the winger’s signature that would leave them empty-handed.
