Newcastle learn Elliott price tag as Liverpool exit stance emerges

Harvey Elliot could leave Liverpool this summer with several Premier League clubs making their interest known.

The 22-year-old starred as England won the Under-21 Euros, scoring in the final against Germany before being named player of the tournament.

But after struggling for minutes under Arne Slot last season, Elliot may now see his future away from Anfield with Newcastle United presenting one potential destination.

Liverpool’s Elliot price tag emerges

Despite amassing just 800 minutes in all competitions for Liverpool last season, Elliot registered eight goal contributions.

The most impressive of which came in the Champions League last-16, when the forward slotted home to put Liverpool ahead against PSG late on in the first leg.

And Elliot quickly stood out amongst England U21’s brightest sparks at the Euros, scoring in the opener against Czechia before adding four more goals in the final three games that saw the Three Lions lift the trophy.

But despite the winger’s clear talent, his role in the Liverpool set-up next season has only become more vague.

With minutes on the pitch already hard to come by, the signing of Florian Wirtz has only bumped the Englishman further down the pecking order.

And with the winger now returning from international duty, it appears a decision has been made that will see Elliot leave Liverpool this summer.

According to Alex Crook (1 July), Liverpool have set their asking price at more than £40million for the forward, who is keen on an exit this summer.

Newcastle United and RB Leipzig have both registered their interest, with Brighton also previously rumoured to be keeping track of the situation.

Liverpool’s transfer plan pays off once again

Liverpool are set to profit massively if Elliot is to leave this summer, after the player joined them for relative pennies.

Signing from Fulham in 2020, the Reds eventually were ordered by an independent commission to pay around £4m for the winger.

In yet another example of shrewd business and brilliant development, Liverpool stand to make their money back at least 10 times.

But the club should be wary to let Elliot go without a clause that could see the 22-year-old return in the future.

The winger’s potential is clear for all to see, and Liverpool must ensure the door to a more important first-team role remains, at least, ajar.
