Newcastle fans ‘to riot’ amid Isak to Liverpool latest – Exclusive

Liverpool’s interest in Newcastle striker Alexander Isak refuses to go away.

The Reds have constantly been linked with a big-money move for the Swedish international as Arne Slot looks to add the finishing touches to his attack.

With Darwin Nunez looking likely to depart, a new forward could very well be on the agenda, and the Magpies’ star fits the bill.

He notched 23 goals and six assists in the Premier League last season and would take the champions to the next level.

Isak would be interested in Liverpool move

The Anfield outfit are not giving up on signing Isak this summer, according to talkSPORT journalist Ben Jacobs (27 June).

Iconic commentator Ian Darke believes that the Swede would be interested in the move, although it does seem unlikely at the moment.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, he said: “I mean, you could say there is no smoke without fire, I would think, although he could never say it publicly, I don’t think there are many players lurking around in Europe who wouldn’t be interested in the idea of playing for Liverpool.

“I would think Isak is probably no exception. I think it would have been a different kettle of fish if Newcastle had not made the Champions League on the last day last season.

“But they did, it looks like a long shot from where I am sitting, I don’t know what type of discussions have been going on behind the scenes, but you can just imagine there would be riots on Tyneside if Newcastle sold Isak.”

Liverpool should go all out for Isak

A deal for Isak would likely cost around £150million, which is a huge outlay, especially when they have already spent nearly £200m on the likes of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez.

However, if Fenway Sports Group sanctions exits for Nunez, Tyler Morton, Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott, that could recoup a huge amount and allow them to pursue the 25-year-old.

The Reds would be the favourites to retain their league crown and win the Champions League if they signed the Magpies’ star asset, so they must do everything they can to try.
