Liverpool ‘could stop exits now’ as rumours emerge after £200m reveal – Exclusive

Liverpool are set for a huge spend in the summer transfer window.

The Reds have already brought Jeremie Frimpong to Merseyside to replace the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold.

They look set to seal the signings of Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz as Arne Slot seeks to defend the Premier League crown in his second season in English football.

Fenway Sports Group have often been criticised for a lack of spending but they are backing the Dutchman to build on his success.

Liverpool set for significant spending spree

If the Anfield outfit signs all three of those players, it would be a near £200million outlay and many reports have claimed they would need sales to fund it.

However, football finance expert Dan Plumley does not believe that is the case and that the Reds could spend that money without needing to sell.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, he said: “Yeah, I think Liverpool could spend £200million and not lose anybody, but we have seen a couple of rumours that one or two others might leave.

“It might be offset by a couple of outgoings, but certainly Liverpool are in a different market, there are kind of levels to levels, their ability to spend that is not a problem.

“They are just fresh off the back of a Premier League title success, in the Champions League and did not spend hardly anything last year, phenomenal achievement to get to where they have got to, their revenue line is north of £600m now, so the club is in a very good shape to spend.

“Those kinds of players, you can look at the way the Wirtz deal is playing out, you are going to have to spend that kind of money, we might see a couple of outgoings, but I think Liverpool’s ability to spend is there to see.

“Also, trying to get their business done early is a positive, you know, going into a bit of a disjointed summer with the Club World Cup and a split transfer window and wanting to do some of that business early to hit the ground running.”

Liverpool’s business so far is exciting

Wirtz would be the headline addition of the summer transfer window as he is one of the most sought-after players in world football.

The Reds have also shored up their defensive flanks, with Frimpong already through the door and Kerkez seemingly set to also make the move to Anfield.

They have already recouped some of those funds, selling Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentford for an initial £12.5m fee, which could rise to £18m if add-ons are met.

That is a great piece of business, considering that the player wanted first-team football and would have been behind both Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili in the pecking order.

The exit doors could be closed already.
