FSG ‘defy conventional wisdom’ with Liverpool hire – Simon Jordan

Simon Jordan is impressed with how Liverpool transitioned into post-Jurgen Klopp life at Anfield.

Winning the Premier League in his first season, Arne Slot has delivered one of the most impressive transitions into the English game.

Only five other managers have won the league at the first time of asking, highlighting just how much Slot has reshaped this Liverpool squad.

Liverpool’s owners also deserve credit for the success of selecting Slot and managing the transition after Klopp’s departure.

What did Simon Jordan say?

Typically, managers take a couple of years to implement their style on players and clubs, but Slot managed to get the squad on board immediately.

Jordan, writing in the Daily Mail on Wednesday (page 63, 29 May), spoke about the transition and how other clubs have failed compared to Liverpool.

“Given how Manchester United and Arsenal mishandled the succession after iconic managers departed, you have to admire Liverpool’s John W Henry and Tom Werner for overseeing a seamless transition post-Klopp,” said the former Crystal Palace owner.

“The biggest decision for an owner and chairman is who to hire and fire. In Slot, they have someone who has not only replicated previous success, but perhaps even improved it.

“Liverpool have defied conventional wisdom that says replacing a long-serving manager equates to decline.

“They’ve been able to win the league under Slot, even without having to sign players, because their recruitment was so good in preceding years.”

Slot is shaping the future for more silverware

Heading into next season, the Reds are already working on early summer signings, aiming to secure them before pre-season begins.

With key players like Trent Alexander-Arnold heading to Real Madrid and Andy Robertson set to depart, full-back is a position where Liverpool urgently needs to invest.

Liverpool are reportedly targeting Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez to bolster its full-back options and improve the squad.

While replacing both full-backs is a risk, the talent Frimpong and Kerkez offer could lift Liverpool to another level and make them an even greater threat.

The Merseyside club is also targeting new attacking options, with a striker and midfielder expected to join the squad soon.

While other teams are strengthening their squads, Liverpool have been the most active in the market so far – a promising sign for Reds fans ahead of the new season.

The fans will hope the team can achieve even more next year and win more trophies.
