Harry Kane Exclusive: Liverpool transfer update from ex-manager

Harry Kane has been mentioned in links with Liverpool ahead of the summer window.

The England international picked up his first piece of career silverware this season after winning the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.

This also saw the 31-year-old net 26 league goals and win the Golden Boot for the second time in as many years after making the move to Germany.

Ahead of the upcoming transfer window, Kane has been linked with an Allianz exit, with Liverpool emerging as a potential destination.

Kane transfer verdict emerges at Liverpool

There is no doubt that the Reds are in desperate need of a deadly goalscoring striker despite the success of Arne Slot’s first season in charge.

Luckily for the Dutchman, the lack of threat from a direct number nine has been made up for by the elite nature of Mohamed Salah.

With that being said, the addition of Kane could prove to be exactly what is required, especially after his Premier League experience with Tottenham Hotspur.

Ally McCoist has suggested via talkSPORT (20 May) that the L4 club should “test the water” at Bayern Munich for the Englishman moving into the summer.

The Scot may think this would be a wise move, but former Leicester City and Brentford manager Martin Allen doesn’t believe this deal would work for the Reds.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, Allen said: “I don’t think there’s any way in a million years that Liverpool would want to sign Harry Kane.

He’s not mobile enough, he plays through the middle as a striker and doesn’t get in behind or play with any pace or tenacity that Liverpool need.

I don’t think he fits their model, so I can’t see that move happening.

There are other clubs that would be in for him, but I don’t think Kane has it in him to play at the level to win Premier League titles.

I know he’s done it in Germany but it’s a different league to what it is over here.

Kane would change how Liverpool play

The Englishman has been famed for his ability to drop deep and create while also being one of the most devastating finishers in world football.

By comparison, the Anfield faithful have become accustomed to Darwin Nunez, who has seriously struggled since signing from Benfica.

Jota has also struggled to impose himself this season, as injuries have constantly ruined any progress he has made throughout the year.

Looking ahead to the summer, Kane could represent a positive addition, but he may see Slot make a change to his style of play to get the best out of the striker.
