Michael Edwards lined up for shock Liverpool exit
Liverpool chief executive Michael Edwards has been crucial to Liverpool’s success over the past few seasons.
The Reds have already had a busy summer. Trent Alexander-Arnold announced that he is leaving Anfield, and wing-backs Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez are likely to join this summer.
The Premier League winners also managed to tie down Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk to new contracts.
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot looks set for a rebuild this summer. The Dutchman is reportedly willing to let forward trio Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz leave the club.

Liverpool chief executive willing to speak to other clubs
According to GiveMeSport, Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal has approached Liverpool about their chief executive Edwards, who is relatively new to his current role.
Edwards was previously Liverpool’s sporting director from 2016 until 2022 before being rehired in 2024. He is happy at FSG but is open to engaging with Al-Hilal as he sees appeal in being able to build his own executive team.
At Liverpool, Edwards is tasked with adding a new football club to the Reds’ current multi-club model, having previously looked at Bordeaux and Malaga.
Al-Hilal has former Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves and former Fulham striker Alexander Mitrovic in their ranks, with Edwards seen as a key component to building on their second-place finish.

A big dilemma for Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window
Changes to Liverpool’s executive teams could cause problems and pause plans for The Reds in what is already shaping up to be a busy summer transfer window.
Any move for Edwards is expected to be pushed by Al-Hilal, but after an impressive title-winning season for Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, uncertainty looms for The Reds.
Fans have already shown their frustrations towards boyhood Liverpool fan Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will leave on a free this summer, and fans will hope that Michael Edwards will show his loyalty towards the club.
The future of the Liverpool chief executive is expected to be clearer after Liverpool’s final Premier League game against Crystal Palace on Sunday (May 25).
