Alexander-Arnold ‘crying’ ahead of Liverpool exit

Trent Alexander-Arnold has divided the Liverpool fanbase amid the bombshell that he is joining Real Madrid.

The Liverpudlian has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two Carabao Cup titles with his boyhood club.

However, the 26-year-old found himself subject to boos as the Reds drew 2-2 with Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool will now have to adjust to life without the England international, while Arne Slot has already called upon Conor Bradley to replace him in the starting lineup.

Emmanuel Petit speaks out on Alexander-Arnold exit

Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to Chelsea on 4 May could have marked the right-back’s last start for the Merseyside giants.

Now, speaking on talkSPORT [12 May, 5.11pm], former France international Emmanuel Petit said: “Don’t be mistaken.

“I am pretty sure, when he gets back home, he will cry. I’m pretty sure when he leaves Liverpool with his luggage, to go to Madrid, he will cry.

“I’m pretty sure he will cry about that because he’s got Liverpool in his heart. He’s been living in Liverpool since he was a child.”

Liverpool fans were wrong to boo Alexander-Arnold

It is no surprise that the Anfield faithful have been hurt by the news that local superstar Alexander-Arnold is trading Merseyside for Madrid at the end of the season.

The Liverpool supporters would rather see the 26-year-old spend the duration of his career with Liverpool, like fellow Reds legend Jamie Carragher.

However, the Reds fans channelled their feelings in the wrong way by directing boos towards Alexander-Arnold when he was subbed on against Arsenal, and then when he was in possession.

Alexander-Arnold performed well this season

The Liverpool fans’ actions could have been a contributing factor to the fact that Slot’s men failed to hold on to their lead and get the better of Arsenal.

Alexander-Arnold has won every trophy he could have possibly won with the Merseyside giants before deciding to move on to pastures new with Madrid.

Furthermore, it could be argued that Los Blancos present the England defender with the only chance he has to achieve even more success than he has enjoyed in the North West.
