Liverpool share special throwback Alexander-Arnold footage days after exit news
Liverpool have been reminiscing after Trent Alexander-Arnold announced he will leave at the end of the season.
It had long been anticipated that the right-back was set to depart from Anfield at the end of the season.
The pull around his boyhood club and Liverpool securing their 20th league title was not enough for Trent, who announced his departure to likely join Real Madrid this summer (5 May).
Now, with the Reds’ season coming to an end, a future without their star boy seems closer than ever.

Liverpool share greatest comeback against Barcelona
Six years ago on Wednesday, Liverpool completed one of the greatest comebacks in their history against Barcelona in the Champions League.
In a thriller at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s side were able to somehow overturn a three-goal deficit with Alexander-Arnold assisting Divock Origi’s winning goal.
First Leg (Camp Nou) | Barcelona 3-0 Liverpool |
Second Leg (Anfield) | Liverpool 4-0 Barcelona |
The Reds uploaded a clip of what went down on that historic night onto X (7 May), when Alexander-Arnold’s quick thinking for the winning corner earned him the man of the match and a place in Liverpool supporters’ hearts.
Alexander-Arnold is a Liverpool legend
When Liverpool’s academy product announced his intention to leave on a free transfer this summer, he caused outrage at Anfield.
The 26-year-old had joined Liverpool’s academy at the age of six and progressed through the ranks at youth level before making his senior debut in 2016.
Departing is one thing, leaving your childhood club with no credit in the bank is another.
While attempts have already been made to undermine his achievements and accomplishments under Klopp, the Englishman’s contributions will never be forgotten.
He has made 352 appearances for the Reds to date, scoring 23 goals and lifting eight major honours, including this season’s Premier League title.
Alexander-Arnold also has the most Premier League assists of any defender in history, a testament to the extraordinary talent he is.
While both a bitter and heavy occasion for Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold’s contributions to the Red club and the Premier League will always be etched in history, let’s hope the fans remember that.
