Arne Slot makes ‘shock transfer U-turn’ as Sky Sports drop Liverpool update

Arne Slot is braced for a busy summer transfer window as Liverpool set sights on defending their Premier League crown.

The Dutchman deserves a lot of credit for leading Liverpool to Premier League glory in his first season in England despite making only one new addition to his squad.

Now, Slot is set to be rewarded with a significant war chest to bolster his ranks ahead of next season, with at least one left-back and a striker on the agenda.

Meanwhile, the Reds are also expected to part ways with a few players amid uncertainties around Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.

Slot makes Diaz transfer U-turn

Liverpool face a lot of uncertainty in their attack even after Mohamed Salah put pen to paper on a new two-year contract.

Darwin Nunez continues to be linked with a move away from Anfield, while Slot was said to have grown frustrated with Jota and Diaz.

This had led to suggestions that the Merseyside-based club could potentially sell all three of them this summer.

However, Slot appears to have changed his mind over Diaz, as the Colombia international is now set to open talks with Liverpool over a new deal.

Sky Sports provided ‘breaking’ Liverpool news on Friday (2 May), reporting that the Anfield outfit will sit down with the attacker at the end of the season to discuss a fresh contract.

The broadcasters claimed that the Reds are prepared to reward the 28-year-old for his ‘excellent’ season by offering to extend his deal beyond 2027.

Diaz to sign new Liverpool deal

Providing further details about Diaz’s situation, Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports reported that Barcelona have a long-standing interest in the player, while he has also been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

However, the former Porto star could now extend his stay at Anfield, with talks over a fresh deal on the cards this summer.

It appears Slot has made a U-turn on his stance on Diaz after having initially grown frustrated with his performances.

The left winger has played a key role in Liverpool’s road to Premier League glory this season, bagging 12 goals and seven assists in 33 games.
