Liverpool star Gakpo responds to Dumfries message after Barcelona v Inter
Cody Gakpo has played his part in Liverpool’s Premier League title success by scoring nine goals in 31 top-flight appearances.
The Dutchman got himself on the scoresheet on Sunday as Arne Slot’s men hammered Tottenham 5-1 to secure their second Premier League title in five years.
The 25-year-old had not previously scored since Liverpool beat Spurs 4-0 in their Carabao Cup semi-final on 6 February.
Slot’s men travel to Chelsea on Sunday 4 May and will be looking to retain their positive momentum after claiming Premier League glory.

Meanwhile, Gakpo’s Netherlands teammate Denzel Dumfries was at the heart of the action, notching one goal and two assists as Inter drew 3-3 at Barcelona in Wednesday’s semi-final first-leg.
Dumfries wrote on Instagram: “First 90 minutes. We go again on Tuesday.”
Gakpo responded as he gave the post a like and commented with a saluting face emoji alongside a red heart emoji.
Liverpool will strive for more success next season
The Reds have remarkably exceeded expectations by winning the Premier League title with four games to spare in Slot’s first season in charge of the Merseyside giants.
However, Liverpool were left disappointed by their premature Champions League exit and their subsequent 2-1 defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final on 16 March.
Slot’s men will now strive for a successful summer transfer window before vying to win more silverware next term, while also looking to retain their Premier League title.
The Reds also suffered an embarrassing FA Cup exit when they were beaten by Championship strugglers Plymouth in February.
But after lifting their second Premier League title in five years, the Anfield giants will now look to further add to their increasingly illustrious trophy collection.
The Liverpool faithful would love to see the Reds win their seventh Champions League title next season, and Slot will make himself even more of a hero if he delivers that.
