Liverpool ‘already have new signing secured’ as Sky share Alexander Isak update

Liverpool have already secured the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili before the summer transfer window even opens.

The Reds are still in a celebratory mood after securing the Premier League with a 5-1 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (27 April).

Alterations have already been made to the outside of Anfield to reflect the fact that they have won their 20th league title, and the Reds have started making tweaks to the team as well.

Arne Slot is keen for the Merseyside giants to strengthen this summer to ensure that they remain competitive moving forward, and the signing of Mamardashvili ticks that box.

Liverpool are shaking up their goalkeeping options

The 24-year-old was bought last summer by Liverpool, but he remained on loan at Valencia throughout the past season, which has led to many fans forgetting about the transfer.

However, the goalkeeper will be making the move to England at the end of the season in a bid to provide competition to Slot’s current options.

It is believed that Alisson will remain the first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield, but Mamardashvili is being seen as someone who has big potential for the future and could one day overtake the Brazilian.

However, this does cast major doubt about the future of Caoimhin Kelleher, who has been the number two in past seasons.

Further competition will reduce Kelleher’s playing opportunity even further, which is going to lead to question marks over what he will do next.

Liverpool remain in the hunt for Alexander Isak

At the other end of the pitch, Liverpool remain in the hunt for a new striker, as Slot wants to enhance his attacking options as well.

Darwin Nunez is expected to be departing Anfield at the end of this season after failing to win Slot over throughout this campaign.

Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas reported that they are interested in signing Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, who has taken the Premier League by storm during his time with the Magpies.

However, there are several other names on their list if they are unable to secure the Sweden international.

Liverpool are also considering Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko, among others, as options to improve their squad.
