Slot axes Gakpo in three changes – Liverpool predicted XI v Tottenham

Arne Slot is expected to make three changes to his starting line-up when Liverpool hosts Tottenham on Sunday.

The Reds need just one point to secure the Premier League title after Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace (23 April).

They can wrap up proceedings at Anfield on Sunday (27 April) and will be mathematically confirmed as champions for the 20th time if they draw against Ange Postecoglou’s side.

However, Joe Gomez and Tyler Morton are expected to remain on the absentee list.

Trent Alexander-Arnold returned from injury against the Foxes and notched the winning goal in a brilliant 19-minute cameo, and he might start this time out.

Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk are predicted to continue their partnership at the heart of defence, the former completed 93 per cent of his passes and 100 per cent of his duels at the King Power Stadium.

Andy Robertson has not started the last two matches but he is expected to be handed a recall on this occasion, as Kostas Tsimikas was accurate with just 18 per cent of his crosses attempted against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side.

Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister are predicted to retain their positions at the base of midfield, the Dutchman won the most duels against the Foxes with eight and the Argentine made the most tackles in the match with three.

Dominik Szoboszlai had three touches in the opposition box, two shots on target and created two chances against the relegation strugglers, and he might continue in the advanced midfielder role against Spurs.

Slot makes one change in attack

Mohamed Salah is expected to start on the right flank as he chases down the record for contributions in a single Premier League season.

The Egyptian needs just three goals or assists to break Alan Shearer’s record of 47 in the final five matches.

Salah’s stats are remarkable.

Luis Diaz is predicted to return to the left wing after featuring in a central role last time out, with Cody Gakpo potentially missing out despite creating two chances against the struggling side.

Diogo Jota might come back into the number nine role against Postecoglou’s team after an encouraging 15-minute cameo in which he took four touches in the opposition box and had three shots.

The pressure is off the Reds, they just need to secure a draw to win the league in front of their own supporters.

If they can do that, the celebrations will begin and Slot will have achieved a historic achievement earlier than anybody expected.
