Arne Slot ‘has first major Liverpool transfer lined up’ after new admission

Liverpool could be in the market for several attacking players in a busy summer transfer window.

Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract in a massive boost for Liverpool, but a number of other attackers have been linked with an exit, and would need replacing.

Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz are two of the senior attackers who could be on the move this summer, and a versatile and speedy forward would be the ideal option to replace them.

Arne Slot now has his sights set on a player he is very familiar with, and he has now heaped praise on a potential key transfer target for Liverpool.

Slot praises Mohammed Kudus amid Liverpool transfer links

West Ham attacker Mohammed Kudus has been linked with a move to Liverpool, and he started at Anfield in their defeat at the weekend.

Speaking after the game, Slot heaped praise on the Ghanaian, highlighting his intelligent movement throughout the match.

“I think [Lucas] Paqueta and Kudus were outstanding today, especially second half. They brought so many players into the midfield,” he told reporters.

“They started out with two No. 9s and then I saw the manager telling Kudus that he had to drop and Kudus started to run everywhere and he was almost uncontrollable for us today.”

Jarrod Bowen has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, and Slot highlighted his additional quality in the final third.

“That led to two chances because they also have Bowen, a player that can run in behind the last line,” he added.

“So you have a problem in your midfield because they bring an extra player over there, but they have the threat of deep runs as well.”

Kudus could be ideal for Liverpool

If Nunez and Diaz both depart, Kudus could replace both players, either as a central striker or a winger, and he could even cover for Salah on the right.

Kudus has performed well at West Ham since joining from Ajax in 2023, and Slot will be well aware of his ability from his time in the Netherlands.

The 24-year-old scored 27 goals in 87 appearances for the Dutch giants, and has netted 17 times for the Hammers.

The attacker would provide speed and versatility in abundance, in addition to two years of Premier League experience, and would resemble the signing of Diogo Jota from Wolves.

Jota arrived at Anfield as a 23-year-old after a promising season at Wolves in a surprise transfer and hit the ground running, and Kudus could have a similar impact if he is signed.
