Liverpool to benefit from Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘risk’ – Exclusive

Liverpool look set to lose Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer this summer.

The 26-year-old has been at the Anfield club since the age of six but has reportedly agreed terms with Real Madrid to leave Merseyside when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Both parties have denied that a deal is in place but speculation continues to thrive with no progress made on fresh terms with the Reds.

However, the L4 outfit could ultimately still benefit despite the England star’s seemingly impending departure.

Liverpool could benefit from Alexander-Arnold exit

While Liverpool losing Alexander-Arnold would be a major blow to supporters, due to his ties with the Anfield outfit, it may not be as much of a blow financially.

Liverpool rejected a £25million offer from Los Blancos in the winter transfer window as they were not willing to let one of their star men leave in the middle of the title race.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, Dan Plumley believes that the Reds may even benefit despite not receiving a fee for his departure after that bid was rejected.

“If you look at it financially, you have got his wage off the wage bill but it is not like Liverpool cannot afford Alexander-Arnold’s wages.

“Financially, they will lose out a little bit, they possibly thought he might want to stay, I think back in January there was still talk of a new deal being done but if that does not play out that way then that is the risk.

“It won’t be a huge blow to Liverpool, I know that sounds a bit crazy given the context of what he might move for a fee but they can swallow that, ultimately with the trajectory that they are on, winning the Premier League would make up for that and they will be in for some decent prize money in the summer.”

Liverpool will struggle to replace Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool may not lose out too much financially from the departure of their biggest homegrown star but they could find it very challenging to replace his impact on the pitch, with question marks remaining over Conor Bradley.

The Three Lions ace is one of the best creative talents in world football and it has been evident how much the Reds struggle to break down teams without him in recent weeks, as he has been out with injury.

Arne Slot and Richard Hughes have a huge task on their hands to replace Alexander-Arnold, if he does depart for the Spanish capital.
