Liverpool ‘to force Harvey Elliott out of Anfield’ as Newcastle ready to pounce

Harvey Elliott’s Liverpool future is uncertain heading into the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old has come through the ranks at Anfield, but much like another homegrown player in Trent Alexander-Arnold, Elliott could end up departing the club at the end of the season.

However, that’s a situation that won’t be by choice, with Elliott currently fighting for as many opportunities as he can get his hands on under Arne Slot.

Newcastle United intend on raiding Liverpool

England Under-21s international Elliott has been unable to solidify himself within Slot’s first team options this season, often operating from the bench, and that could lead to Liverpool cashing in on him this summer.

According to TEAMtalk (1 April), Newcastle United are looking to make a splash in the transfer market this summer and want to sign Elliott as part of that as Eddie Howe is a fan of him.

The Magpies managed to win their first major trophy in 70 years this season by capturing the EFL Cup by defeating Liverpool in the final, and they now intend on capitalising on the momentum.

The Reds have greenlit Elliott’s sale, with the Premier League giants being open to selling the midfielder at the end of the season.

This has alerted the Magpies as they don’t want to overspend in the summer due to PSR restrictions, which is why Liverpool being open to selling him is an intriguing situation.

Liverpool are set to see what offers they receive during the summer transfer window before setting an official fee for him.

Liverpool will have to force Harvey Elliott out

Elliott is a boyhood Liverpool fan and has made it clear he would like to stay if possible, although he might have to accept that leaving Anfield will be the only way to guarantee he will be a regular starter.

Liverpool aren’t totally set on selling the attacker, but they believe that he’s also a good option to sell in a bid to bolster their transfer funds to improve the squad.

That’s something that could be could be important given the fact Liverpool might have to replace Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah for free.

All three men are out of contract at the end of this season, and should they depart Anfield for nothing it will cost the Reds a significant fee to replace them.
