Liverpool have ‘Milos Kerkez green-light’ after new Bournemouth developments

Liverpool may have taken a step closer to signing Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

The Hungarian defender is reportedly the Reds’ number one target to replace Andy Robertson, who seems set to leave Anfield in the near future.

Liverpool News revealed exclusively in January that a deal for the 21-year-old would cost around £40million, with the Anfield club ready to gazump Manchester United and Manchester City.

A new development on the South Coast has increased the likelihood of the Merseysiders securing a deal.

Kerkez to Liverpool moves closer after Bournemouth revelation

Liverpool have a major rebuild to complete in the summer, and Kerkez would be a great start as he would lock down the left flank for the next decade.

A report from talkSPORT (1 March) claims that Bournemouth believe that they already have a replacement for the Hungarian in their squad.

It states that the Cherries expect Julio Soler, who they signed in January, to fill the void if Kerkez departs at the end of the season.

Liverpool seem set to sign Kerkez

Given the latest revelation and the fact that Kerkez would be available for a great fee in today’s market, a deal seems the likely outcome.

The Hungary star would be an upgrade on what Robertson offers, given that the 31-year-old is not the same player that he once was as he helped the Reds to Premier League and Champions League glory.

Kerkez would hold down the position for a considerable period and has already proved his defensive ability in the top-flight in his 57 appearances since moving from AZ Alkmaar.

He has also emerged as an attacking threat with two goals and six assists in his career in English football so far, and looks ready for the move to Anfield.

Richard Hughes, the Reds’ sporting director, signed the young ace when he worked on the South Coast, and he could use his relationships with the club to complete a deal.

Meanwhile, Kerkez’s relationship with international teammate Dominik Szoboszlai would make it easier for him to settle in on Merseyside.
