Liverpool fired Premier League warning after new Arsenal announcement

Liverpool will be eager to get themselves back on track as they return to Premier League action on Wednesday.

The Reds faced their lowest point of the season so far when they were knocked out of the Champions League and lost the Carabao Cup final just before the international break.

Although the Premier League title still looks achievable as Arne Slot’s side sits 12 points clear at the top of the table, a return to good form will ease any nerves on that front.

With Everton up next at Anfield, there is no better stage than the Merseyside derby to recover.

Arsenal to challenge Liverpool after announcement

Liverpool do not return to domestic life with an easy game as they welcome Everton to Anfield for a Merseyside Derby.

Going up against a Toffees side that are unbeaten in nine games under David Moyes won’t be easy, and after the last battle between the two sides at Goodison Park, it could well be a fiery game.

Everton then face Arsenal at the weekend, which puts Liverpool in a predicament when it comes to who they will be backing in the tie.

The Premier League’s refusal to move the games means that Mikel Arteta’s side will go into the tie with an extra day of rest in comparison to Moyes’ men.

Not only that, but Arsenal have also received another boost ahead of their midweek game against Fulham, as Arteta announced that Bukayo Saka is “ready to go” and could return to action in the midweek game.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have to face their game without the services of Trent Alexander-Arnold, with some doubts also over Ryan Gravenberch and Alisson Becker.

Slot has to get Liverpool back on track

Although it has been a tough couple of weeks for the Reds on Merseyside, there is no need to get too carried away.

Slot’s men do sit comfortably at the top of the table still and having lost just one Premier League game all season, they certainly remain the favourites to succeed.

Liverpool are in pole position for the Premier League title.

Saka is an excellent player and will no doubt give their top of the table rivals a big boost as they return to league action, but it won’t automatically fire them up the table if Liverpool keep their own standards high.

The manager has shown himself to be an unflappable character for most of the season so far, although he did lose his head against Everton which he needs to avoid happening again on Wednesday.

Nevertheless, you would expect the boss to have brought his side back from the international break ready to carry on with their momentum and end the season on a high, with no threat from elsewhere.
