Collymore makes Arne Slot claim after Liverpool doubts emerge
Liverpool manager Arne Slot is enjoying a brilliant first campaign at Anfield, even accounting for a terrible week prior to the international break.
Slot’s Reds side are on course to win the Premier League, currently boasting a 12-point margin over Arsenal at the summit.
However, they have endured a tough week as they were eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain and then lost the Carabao Cup final to Newcastle.

Slot winning the Premier League would be ‘outstanding’
Liverpool have been criticised for the nature of those two losses, with many observers labelling it as an underwhelming campaign if they only win the league.
However, Collymore does not agree with those sentiments and believes that the job that Slot has done in his maiden season in England is going under the radar.
In a column for Caught Offside (20 March), he said: “Any fan at the start of the season would have said that the Premier League is the most important competition for Liverpool – and while they could collapse and miss out on winning it, I really don’t think that will happen, even if they need to buck up their ideas as their performances in recent weeks have been poor.
“Talk of quadruples, trebles are not for me, I will leave that to influencers to speak about. Even a double is a very difficult thing to do in football, and many clubs have not achieved it over the years in English football.
“Regardless, the Premier League title is the gold standard for me, and if Liverpool can win it by even 3-6 points, it would be an outstanding achievement, especially with Arne Slot being a rookie manager in England.”

Liverpool set for historic title win
Slot will write his name in the Anfield history books if his side can hold off the Gunners and win the title.
The L4 outfit needs just 16 points from their last nine matches, as the maximum that the North London side can reach is 85 points.
Premier League | Played | GD | Points |
1. Liverpool | 29 | +42 | 70 |
2. Arsenal | 29 | +29 | 58 |
It would take the Reds level with arch-rivals Manchester United to 20 titles in the all-time rankings and increase their lead as the most successful team in England.
Slot needs to ensure that his side bounces back from the negative results and does not give Mikel Arteta’s side any hope of catching them as the season comes to a conclusion.
The narrative that it is any kind of failure if Liverpool only win the Premier League is absolutely ridiculous, as many predicted that they would struggle to make the top four once Jurgen Klopp left, never mind win the competition in the Dutchman’s first season on Merseyside.
It would take a momentous collapse for Slot’s side to relinquish their grip on the title and suggestions that they will be disappointed with just the league are wide of the mark.
In fact, that idea is incredibly disrespectful to Slot and his players given that they were not expected to be anywhere near the top echelons this season.
