Exclusive: Liverpool ‘to pay £150m’ for Isak after Champions League development
Liverpool have been credited with an interest in signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle this summer.
The Reds are on course to win the Premier League as they enjoy a 15-point lead at the top of the table with nine games left to play but face an uncertain summer ahead.
Liverpool are facing the prospect of having to invest a significant amount of money on new signings, with Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold running out of their contracts.
The attack is a major area of concern for Arne Slot, who has grown frustrated with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota as the season has progressed, while Darwin Nunez continues to struggle.

Liverpool can meet Newcastle demands for Isak
It appears signing a new centre-forward is high on Liverpool’s agenda, with David Ornstein confirming their interest in snapping up Isak.
However, Newcastle are under no pressure to sell the Sweden international as he is contracted to them until 2028 and want at least £150million to consider a deal.

That, though, would not be a problem for the Anfield outfit, who posted an increased revenue of £614m in their latest financial accounts while also being on course to earn around £84m from their UEFA Champions League run.
“I think they could pay, yeah, for sure“, Plumley exclusively told Liverpool News.
“We’re looking at the accounts for 2024 that have just been released, the revenue is up to £614m.
“If you look at where they are now currently and look at some of the Swiss Ramble estimates on what they have earned from the Champions League already, they’re pushing £84m prize money from the Champions League.

Premier League clubs fight for EFL Cup glory
“So, if you look at some of those numbers, and again, it’s Liverpool Football Club and where they are at the minute, they could spend that figure on Isak for sure. I guess the question is whether they want to.
“We’re talking about a season where they’ve not spent big, they’ve got that settled squad. There’ll be a bit of upheaval and transition to that at some point, there has to be, but it’s more of a question with Isak, I think, if they want to pay that kind of money, rather than can they because they can.
“It’s going to be up to them in terms of how they want to play that one.”
Those conversations will have to wait until the summer as Liverpool and Newcastle prepare to lock horns in the EFL Cup final at Wembley on Sunday, 16 March.
Isak missed the Magpies’ 2-0 defeat against the Reds at Anfield on 26 February, but is poised to the lead for Eddie Howe’s side on this occasion.
