Alexander-Arnold ‘has played last game for Liverpool’ after Arne Slot update

Trent Alexander-Arnold may have featured for Liverpool for the last time.

The 26-year-old emerged from the Reds academy to play a pivotal role in Champions League and Premier League successes.

However, he was taken off in the penalty shootout loss to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday (11 March) and is set to miss the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle on 16 March.

With his contract set to expire in the summer and the latest Liverpool injury update from Arne Slot, the Anfield faithful may never see him put on the Red shirt ever again.

Slot gives bleak Alexander-Arnold update

Slot confirmed in his pre-match press conference [14 March] ahead of facing Newcastle that the England star will miss the Wembley showcase, although he could yet return to action before the season ends.

However, with just nine matches left to play after this weekend, combined with Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation, there is now a real possibility he has played his last game at Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold would be a big loss for Liverpool

Alexander-Arnold is one of the greatest players in world football with the ball at his feet, with his passing ability making him a constant threat for the opposition.

There are concerns about his defensive abilities but they are often taken out of proportion to suit the prevailing narrative on social media.

Losing the Three Lions ace would be a major blow for the L4 outfit, but with Real Madrid interested in his services, it is looking likely that he will depart.

He was won everything possible with his boyhood club and the chance to compete for the Ballon d’Or with Los Blancos could prove to be the deciding factor.

The allure and fame that comes from the Spanish capital is obviously tempting for any footballer, but Liverpool should do everything in their power to keep the academy graduate.

Replacing him would arguably be harder than finding a Liverpool successor for Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who are also currently set to leave at the end of the campaign, given what he offers in possession.

All signs seem to be pointing towards an exit for the Englishman, and if the Reds go on to lift the Premier League title, it would be a fitting end to his Anfield career.
