David Moyes fires shots at Liverpool as they’re knocked out of Champions League
David Moyes took a swipe at Liverpool ahead of their Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield on Tuesday.
The round of 16 fixture ended 1-1 on aggregate after extra time with Ousmane Dembele netting the only goal of the second leg.
Unfortunately, things didn’t end up going the Reds’ way on penalties as they lost against the Ligue 1 outfit after Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones both missed their spot-kicks.

Moyes unaware of Liverpool v PSG game
When being interviewed by the BBC, Moyes joked that he wasn’t aware that Liverpool were facing PSG on Tuesday.
The Toffees’ boss was attending the Blood Brothers musical at the Liverpool Empire as Arne Slot’s team faced the French champions.
The reporter conducting the interview joked that, because Moyes was watching the musical, he had an easy way to avoid watching the tie which the former West Ham boss then replied to.
“I didn’t know there was a game on tonight. Is there,” he joked in a clip shared by Jon Shea via X (11 March).

Liverpool left empty-handed after PSG loss
Going into the game at Anfield, fans were confident that Liverpool would have what it takes to beat the Ligue 1 outfit once again.
However, that didn’t end up being the case with Luis Enrique’s men going full throttle from the first minute of the game.
Liverpool | PSG |
Shots – 19 | Shots – 21 |
Shots on target – 3 | Shots on target – 8 |
Possession – 45% | Possession – 55% |
Passes – 536 | Passes – 675 |
Their relentless pressing got the Parisians what they deserved after Dembele bundled the ball into the back of the net after a slight mishap from Ibrahima Konate.
Even though Slot’s men don’t have the Champions League to fight for now, they’re still well on course to bring home the Premier League title which is a remarkable achievement in itself.
The Reds’ time in the Champions League will come at one point or another but it just won’t be this season.
Even though the loss was upsetting, it does mean that their full focus can be turned towards the Carabao Cup final and the Premier League.
At the end of the day, if Liverpool’s supporters were told they’d be able to win the title at the start of the season, they’d have snapped your hands off.
So, while fans may feel hard done by after getting knocked out, the 2024/25 season can still end up being a massive success.
