Gary Neville makes Liverpool prediction v Paris Saint-Germain in Champions League

Liverpool look one step closer to the Premier League title after Arsenal dropped more points against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Reds now sit 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, with Arne Slot still on course for a huge possible treble at Anfield.

Liverpool welcome Paris Saint-Germain to Anfield on Tuesday for the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie, with Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final only days later.

Gary Neville makes Liverpool prediction

Liverpool have been out in front in the Premier League for the entire season now, with the general feeling that the title is already on its way to Anfield.

Slot won’t be letting his men get too comfortable, but it does mean they can turn their attentions elsewhere with more silverware on the line.

The Reds had their backs against the wall in Paris, but left with a 1-0 lead thanks to a late Harvey Elliott goal on 5 March.

PSG return to Anfield this week and Slot will push to get the job done professionally and turn attentions to Wembley Stadium.

However, Gary Neville has admitted he doesn’t think Liverpool will have it easy in the Champions League, saying on his podcast: “Liverpool have got it [the Premier League] in the bag. I think they will win it in April.

“The Champions League is a different story, it can be over in a one-off game. I’m not quite sure I see them winning it, you can never write them off obviously, but I don’t quite see it.

“It wouldn’t surprise me actually if they went out this week. It’s a 50-50 game for me, either team would easily win, PSG are a good side.”

Slot can silence Neville doubts

Slot has surprised many at just how well he has done since arriving at Anfield in the summer and he has done it dominantly without much luck, too.

Nevertheless, there has been a view from some that Arsenal’s injury woes and failure to perform have helped Liverpool win the league rather than their own strength.

The boss doesn’t seem to be concerned about these conversations though and instead, will be purely focused on performing in the upcoming games.

Although they are 1-0 up going into the second leg, the Reds will have to be at their best levels to ensure they get over the line against PSG and progress in the Champions League.

If Neville should know one thing by now, it’s never to write off Liverpool.
