Mohamed Salah shares image from Anfield dressing room after Liverpool win v Southampton
Mohamed Salah was the star of the show again as Liverpool eventually cruised to a 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.
The Egyptian scored twice from the penalty spot in the win over Ivan Juric’s side at Anfield to solidify their lead at the top of the Premier League.
Arne Slot’s side showed excellent resilience, bouncing back in the second half after being 1-0 down at half-time through Will Smallbone’s goal.
Darwin Nunez initiated a comeback with a goal in the 51st minute and Salah then converted two penalties to seal the game for the hosts.

Salah magic at Anfield
The former Roma attacker has been in splendid form this season, netting 27 goals and providing 17 assists in 29 Premier League games. His numbers in the UEFA Champions League are commendable too, providing seven goal contributions in eight games.
Salah once again proved to be the differentiating factor for the Reds as he did not make any mistakes in converting the two penalties against Southampton.
Competition | Matches | Goals | Assists |
Premier League | 29 | 27 | 17 |
Champions League | 8 | 3 | 4 |
EFL Cup | 4 | 2 | 1 |
Following the impressive 3-1 win over the relegation-threatened Southampton side, Salah shared a picture of the Liverpool dressing room on Instagram.
The picture featured him and Nunez, the two goalscorers in the game.
The 32-year-old is producing a special season at Anfield in what could be his final year at the Merseyside club. He has 54 goal contributions (32 goals and 22 assists) in 41 appearances throughout the season and there is room to add more to the tally.
Salah is in the final few months of his deal at Anfield and so far there have been no concrete reports of a renewal. Should this be his final season with the Reds, he would like to make it a memorable one.
Changing of guard at Liverpool?
Along with Salah, the contracts of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also set to expire.
Salah and van Dijk have been at Liverpool since 2017 and 2018 respectively and have been part of the meteoric rise of the team that has won one Champions League trophy and one Premier League crown alongside six other trophies.
With both players on the wrong side of thirty, it seems the Reds are looking at the dawn of a new era and are planning for life after Salah and van Dijk.
It’s time to go out with a bang first, though.
