Liverpool made a sixth substitution in the 90th minute when Trent Alexander-Arnold was taken off for Jarell Quansah.
The decision left Salah pleading to stop the substitution so that the club do not get docked points, according to David Lynch.
The referee had to explain to the Egyptian that they were allowed due to a head injury for Southampton in the first-half.
