Liverpool told to release ‘trash’ Diaz after incident – ‘Slot is done with him’

Luis Diaz has been in dire form for Liverpool in recent weeks.

The Colombian has failed to score in his last four matches after breaking a previous ten-match drought against Wolves (16 February).

Although the Reds are top of the Premier League, Arne Slot is understood to be frustrated with his forward options and could sanction sales in the summer.

Speculation about Diaz’s future at Anfield continues to bubble despite his entourage denying reports that he could leave the club.

Diaz flops for Liverpool against Southampton

Diaz struggled to have an impact against the bottom-dwellers in another dismal showing on the left flank.

The worst moment was when he cut inside in the 40th minute of the contest but his effort was wild and was closer to the corner flag than the goal.

It was a terrible attempt and there were better options with Darwin Nunez in space in the middle of the Saints box.

Liverpool fans call for Diaz sale

After the abysmal effort, Red supporters have called for the L4 outfit to sell the Colombia international.

Diaz is contracted until 2027, however, the Reds could sanction a sale to Saudi Arabia or Barcelona if they decide to upgrade on the former Porto man.

The 28-year-old is a frustrating figure, he has notched nine league goals this season but far too often the burden is on Mohamed Salah to rescue the Merseysiders when they go behind.

The 61-cap international has failed to secure a permanent starting berth after being converted to a false nine role and Cody Gakpo has overtaken him in his natural position, on the left wing.

His profligacy in front of goal is especially worrying given that the Dutchman is currently out with injury, which could hamper the Reds’ title charge, if the likes of Salah, Nunez and Diogo Jota cannot pick up the slack.

Diaz needs to step up to the plate, luckily on this occasion, other players were able to turn the poor first-half around and maintain their dominance at the summit.
