Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool starboy now has golden chance under Arne Slot
Liverpool have been in fine form this season with the Reds often dominating most opponents that they’ve been put up against.
At the moment, they’re flying high at the top of the Premier League table and have created a massive 13-point gap between themselves and second-placed Arsenal with less than a third of the season to go.
Players such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah have been the ones to receive the most plaudits for their performances with the latter of the two in some of the form of his career at the moment.
Having standout first-team players is all well and good but if you don’t have a squad bursting with talent, there’s no way you’d be able to fight on all fronts as the Reds have done this term.
Harvey Elliott and Wataru Endo are two names who spring to mind regarding solid squad players but after the recent performances from Elliott, now is the right time for Slot to finally give him his chance.

Slot should start Elliott versus Southampton
Even though the former Fulham man was only on for the dying embers of Liverpool’s 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, he was the star of the show thanks to the winning goal he scored.
This has allowed the Reds to go into the return fixture at Anfield next week in good spirits and with an advantage over the Ligue 1 outfit.
However, Liverpool are set to face the Saints on 8 March in a Premier League game that they should easily win.
Team | Position | Points |
Liverpool | 1st | 67 |
Arsenal | 2nd | 54 |
Nottingham Forest | 3rd | 48 |
Manchester City | 4th | 47 |
And, if Slot wants to keep some of his first-team players fit and ready for the tie, it could be Elliott’s time to shine.
The youngster was Jurgen Klopp’s starboy and although he may not have been called upon much this term, there’s still plenty of potential left within him that could be of use to the Dutchman.

Slot needs to rest his first-team players for PSG
As we all know, seasons have got more gruelling as the years have gone on with most of the top Premier League teams playing twice per week without fail.
This means that rest needs to be given which is why Saturday’s game against Ivan Juric’s men is a golden opportunity for Elliott.
If he can come into the team for someone such as Salah or Szoboszlai, his attacking nature can thrive within the squad and he can show Slot what he’s been missing out on.
Only time will tell who the Dutchman will choose to start at the weekend but if Elliott isn’t in the starting XI, it’ll be surprising.
