Jurgen Klopp resigned as Liverpool’s manager at the end of last season.

The German sent shockwaves across the footballing landscape when he announced that he would leave Liverpool at the end of last season, overseeing a highly successful period in the club’s history.

Under Klopp’s leadership, the Reds won eight major titles, including one Premier League crown, one UEFA Champions League trophy, one FA Cup, two EFL Cups, one Community Shield, one UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup.

In his nine years as Liverpool manager, Klopp became a fan favourite and was highly revered by the Liverpool faithful.

Jurgen Klopp ready to return to Liverpool

Since leaving Liverpool, the former Dortmund manager has gone onto become the Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull. He joined this post in January 2025, after taking almost eight months of a break from football.

As the Reds boss, Klopp came agonisingly close to winning the Premier League title on several occasions. On two occasions, Liverpool lost the Premier League title to Manchester City by just one point, once in the 2018-19 season and then in the 2021-22 season.

What Klopp could manage only once in his nine-year tenure at Anfield, new manager Arne Slot is on course to achieve it in his first season – winning the Premier League title.

The Dutch manager has orchestrated a magnificent debut campaign as the Reds manager, guiding them to the top of the Premier League and building a 13-point lead at the top. Liverpool also have a shot at their first piece of silverware next week as they take on Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final on 16th March.

Jurgen Klopp’s record as Liverpool manager

With the Merseysiders on course to clinch the Premier League title, Klopp was asked in a recent charity event whether he would return to the city of Liverpool for an open-top bus parade.

Klopp told news24: “Yes, the plan is [to be in Liverpool] but not on the bus, I will be there with the people I saw on the bus. That’s the idea to be honest, but we will see.”

“I think I will be there for the last game,” the German added. “I didn’t want to go earlier to be honest because I didn’t want to jinx it all the time. If I’m in the stadium for the first time and they lose, ‘oh f*** sake’. So I go there when it’s decided.”

Alexander Isak headed to Liverpool as Newcastle United eye replacement?

The Reds have long been linked with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. The Sweden international has been a menacing threat for the Premier League defences and has already netted 19 goals in the English Top-flight this season.

With Darwin Nunez’s future up in the air, the Reds are looking to add a reliable striker in their ranks and Isak’s name seems to be on the top of their wish list.

The Magpies also seem to be aware of Liverpool’s concrete interest in the 25-year-old but they will try everything to keep hold of Isak. However, in case of Isak’s departure, Newcastle have put contingency plans in motion to replace the former Real Sociedad striker.

Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap is on the radar of the North East based outfit.
