Rio Ferdinand loses mind over what he saw Liverpool star do v PSG

Rio Ferdinand has been left blown away by the Liverpool win against PSG.

The Reds somehow managed to secure a 1-0 win away from home against the Ligue 1 champions despite being under the cosh for virtually the entire 90 minutes.

Luis Enrique’s side dominated from start to finish and can count themselves extremely unlucky not to come away with an aggregate lead to take back to Anfield.

It is fair to say that Arne Slot has one man to thank for the result, who left Ferdinand baffled live on air during the clash at the Parc Des Princes.

Ferdinand gushes over Alisson v PSG

It is safe to say that the Brazil international was the true difference between a win and heavy defeat away against the French side.

The 32-year-old was able to make nine saves on the night, keeping out 2.26 expected goals from the home outfit who took 27 shots on the night [FotMob].

The former Roma keeper kept out 100 per cent of the PSG efforts on goal which just sums up how good he was on the night.

Add to this stellar performance one punch, three throws and 13 passes and you have an all action performance from arguably the best keeper in the world.

It is safe to say that the performance of the shot-stopper has left a lasting impression on ex-Manchester United star Ferdinand live on TNT Sports (5 March, 09:41pm).

“Alisson has put a clinic on today in how to be a goalkeeper. He has kept his team in it. Tremendous.”

Liverpool seriously falter v PSG

It is safe to say that the clash against the Parisians was arguably the worst of Slot’s reign so far until Harvey Elliott grabbed the most unlikely of winners

There was so little positivity to take away from the performance until that point, which isn’t necessarily a positive sign with the reverse leg coming in a week’s time.

Besides the excellent performance of the Brazilian in between the sticks, there is very little to say that will delight fans ahead of a clash against Luis Enrique’s side at Anfield.

Even with the quality of Mohamed Salah in forward areas, there was no attacking intent from the travelling outfit for the vast majority of the clash.

Add to this, the frustrating defending of Ibrahima Konate, and there is plenty of excitement for PSG to bring with them to Merseyside, which could make for a tough night.

Given that a quarter-final place is waiting for the winner of this tie, Slot’s side need to buck up their ideas to maintain their 1-0 advantage if they want to take that coveted spot in Europe’s elite competition.
