Slot to axe Jota, three changes – Liverpool predicted XI v Paris Saint-Germain

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is expected to make three changes to his starting line-up for the Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds travel to the French capital on 5 March looking to secure an advantage for the round of 16 second leg at Anfield.

Joe Gomez, Conor Bradley, and Tyler Morton will miss the contest through injury and Amara Nallo is suspended after his red card in the loss to PSV, although he was unlikely to feature anyway.

After a poor performance in the 2-0 victory over Newcastle (26 February), Diogo Jota could be axed against the Ligue 1 outfit.

Andy Robertson is predicted to be the only change to the backline that kept Eddie Howe’s side quiet without Alexander Isak after Kostas Tsimikas failed to take his opportunity.

The Greek international created zero chances and completed no crosses despite attempting three in a limited attacking display, although he was solid defensively.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk are expected to retain their starting berths, the former was particularly impressive, winning three out of his four ground duels for a 75 per cent success rate.

At the base of midfield, Alexis Mac Allister is predicted to partner Ryan Gravenberch, the Argentina midfielder doubled the Reds’ lead at Anfield and completed 87 per cent of his passes in a typically composed display.

Dominik Szoboszlai might continue in the number ten role after creating two chances, making seven passes into the final third and notching the opener against the Magpies.

Slot to make two changes in attack

Mohamed Salah is expected to keep his spot on the right flank after he assisted Mac Allister and created four chances on Wednesday.

Diogo Jota might lose his starting place to Darwin Nunez after a dismal showing despite the victory, the Portugal international was hooked in the 62nd minute after he failed to record a shot and had just two touches in the opposition box.

On the left flank, Cody Gakpo is predicted to return after featuring from the bench against Howe’s charges, he completed 92 per cent of his passes and had four touches in the opposition box in a 28-minute cameo.

The Reds could put one foot into the quarter-finals with a good result in Paris, as with Anfield behind them in the second leg, they will be heavy favourites to progress.
