Arsenal legend Ian Wright shares Liverpool title admission
Liverpool’s victories over Manchester City and Newcastle United in the last week have led to further discussions about the Premier League title race.
Arne Slot’s side continued their unstoppable form with a 2-0 victory over City on Sunday (23 February) before taking all three points against Newcastle in a 2-0 win on Wednesday (26 February).
As a result, the Reds occupy the top spot in the Premier League table, 13 points clear of Arsenal in second place.

Ian Wright makes Liverpool title prediction
Although nothing is mathematically confirmed, Liverpool certainly look like favourites to win the Premier League title this term after losing just one game throughout the campaign so far.
Although there were concerns about how Slot would adapt to life in the top flight, as a successor to Jurgen Klopp, the Dutchman has shown absolutely no signs of struggle.
Not only is the Premier League title on the table but the Reds face a Carabao Cup final in March and also remain in the Champions League.
For many, including Ian Wright, at the start of the season, they probably thought the debate would centre more around the likes of holders Manchester City and Arsenal.
However, after another successful week for the Merseyside outfit, Wright was left admitting he can only see one outcome as he said live on Premier League Productions: “We are probably looking at the possible champions, without a shadow of a doubt.
“You only have to look at the closest team to them in respect of Arsenal, what they’re going through, you can’t see where the next win’s coming from in respect of the way they’re playing.
“And you look at Liverpool against City, and it looked quite comfortable in the way they did it. People were talking about, ‘oh Liverpool, yeah, but they’re not playing well,’ they didn’t have to.
“They’ve got it under such control, they didn’t have to, and they just look like champions as we sit now, and they look like a team.
“The way they celebrated afterwards, there was a certain, not relief, but there was a certain kind of sense of, that was something there, which I didn’t begrudge them for.”

Slot set for triumph with Liverpool
Although Slot will be eager for his side to stay calm until anything is confirmed, the Reds would certainly have to have a complete turn of fortune if they were to throw away a comfortable title win now.
Matches played | Won | Drawn | Lost | Goals for | Goals against | Goal difference | Points |
28 | 20 | 7 | 1 | 66 | 26 | 40 | 67 |
Although there have been some suggestions from people like Gary Lineker that injuries to other sides have played their part in Liverpool’s dominance this term, there is no getting away from how good their record is.
Furthermore, finishing at the top of the Champions League group shows how successful the Merseyside outfit have been across different compeitions this term too.
In a first season with the club to win even the Premier League as such a force is impressive so with the potential to win more trophies, that speaks volumes.
Although players like Mohamed Salah are yet to have their future confirmed due to having contracts that expire at the end of the campaign, you can’t imagine there would be many players who wouldn’t want to stick around in this side.
The key going forward will be for Slot to back it up and show he can take the Reds towards a prolonged period of dominance.
