FSG told to get out of Anfield now after £57m Liverpool reveal

Fenway Sports Group’s relationship with Liverpool fans over the last few seasons has been somewhat choppy.

Fans have often accused the American conglomerate of not spending enough money on the Anfield outfit which in turn, has left them behind their rivals such as Manchester City on more than one occasion, with this season being an exception.

While there has been money spent on the team with players such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister joining the ranks, more should have still come from the Reds in recent windows.

For example, in the last summer transfer window, only Federico Chiesa was brought through the Anfield doors and looking at his impact thus far, his arrival hasn’t done all that much for Liverpool.

So, when the Merseyside outfit’s financial accounts for the 2023/24 season were released, it came as a bit of a shock to fans that they’d lost £57million before tax.

Liverpool fans tell FSG to pack their bags at Anfield

Liverpool fans haven’t been afraid of showing their disdain towards FSG once again this season.

At most of the Reds’ games, you’re bound to see a poster or a banner which has ‘FSG OUT’ on display.

One supporter shared that they believe the “club is going the wrong way” while another claimed that the Reds were quickly becoming a “badly run club”.

FSG need to back Arne Slot in the summer

Even though Liverpool seem to be well on their way to earning their first Premier League title under the guidance of Arne Slot, there are still a couple of areas within his team that could do with strengthening.

Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk all still have their futures undecided with their contracts at Liverpool set to expire at the end of the season.

If more than one of the trio leaves, a massive rebuild will have to be undertaken with FSG more than likely having to dig deep into their pockets.

The Reds are one of the most well-known clubs in world football and if Slot wants to keep them battling against the best teams in the world, investment is going to be needed from FSG.

However, if FSG do decide to back the Dutchman in the summer, they’d no doubt earn the trust of some fans back and start to repair their relationship with them which would be good news for all the involved parties.
