Curtis Jones injury update shared ahead of Liverpool v Everton clash
Liverpool are gearing themselves to take on arch-rivals Everton in what is set to be the last-ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
As the game was initially supposed to take place back in December, there has been an awful lot of build-up ahead of the actual clash.
In preparation for the game, Arne Slot chose to rest some of his key players such as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk with the idea of having them both fresh-legged and ready for war ahead of the game, a decision that backfired as Liverpool were beaten 1-0 by Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup fourth round.
Curtis Jones has also been away from the starting XI due to injury over the last couple of weeks and now, an update has been shared on whether he’ll be available against Everton on 12 February.
Will Curtis Jones be playing for Liverpool in the Merseyside derby?
Jones has always been in and around the first team since Jurgen Klopp chose to promote him to the senior squad all those years ago.
While Jones hasn’t had the most regular of roles in the starting XI, since the start of the 2024/25 campaign, it really feels like the Englishman has come into his own and has started to move his way up the ranks.
And now, thanks to an update from Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele via his personal X account (11 February), it seems that the midfielder will be “fit” for the last-ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

“Curtis Jones will be fit and available for selection in the Merseyside Derby after the Liverpool midfielder felt some discomfort (relating to recent injury) and had to be left on the subs bench at Plymouth,” he wrote.
“Joe Gomez the only certain absentee.”
Arne Slot has to take his ‘a-game’ to Everton
On paper, the Reds might seem like the most likely winners but at the end of the day, anything can happen in football.
Liverpool have been the most dominant force in the Premier League this season and have more often than not proven their worth.
However, due to the recent form Everton have found themselves in since David Moyes’ return, Wednesday’s clash is gearing up to be a classic.
Both sides will want to hit back after their disappointing bow-outs in the FA Cup over the weekend and fireworks are to be expected in what should be a hugely intriguing derby contest.
If Liverpool want to add another three points to their Premier League tally and earn that 42nd Merseyside derby win, they’re going to have to throw everything they have at Moyes and his men.
