Robbie Savage makes ‘Unbelievable’ Arne Slot prediction at Liverpool

Liverpool are top of the Premier League in Arne Slot’s first season in charge at Anfield.

The Reds are in the Carabao Cup final after beating Tottenham 4-0 in the semi-final second leg on Thursday (6 February).

The Merseysiders finished top of the Champions League first phase and progressed automatically to the round of 16.

They face Plymouth in the FA Cup fourth round (9 February) looking to continue their charge towards a historic quadruple.

Under Jurgen Klopp, the Anfield outfit were in a similar position at this stage last season but ended up winning the League Cup and nothing else.

Stopping short of backing the Reds to win the quadruple, former Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage believes that they will win more than one trophy.

Speaking in the Daily Mirror, via their print edition (page 65, 8 February), Savage said: “I think they will win more than one this time.

“Arne Slot has done an unbelievable job as Klopp’s successor.

“Whatever happens from here, he has turned Liverpool into the best team in Europe – they have pace, energy, dynamism, belief the lot and they have Mo Salah.”

Arne Slot can make history at Liverpool

The Dutchman has taken English football by storm in his maiden campaign in the Anfield dugout, his side has been the standout team in Europe this season.

However, he will be keen to banish any talk of a potential quadruple and urge his players to focus on one game at a time.

At the moment, the Reds look like blowing away every team that they face, but winning four trophies is very difficult as was seen last season with Klopp in a similar position.

They are in pole position to start his Merseyside reign with the first available trophy in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle (16 March).

That would lay a marker down and hopefully supercharge their Premier League title push, in which they can take a nine-point margin on Arsenal with a win against Everton in their game in hand (12 February).

Their progress in the Champions League has supporters dreaming of taking their tally to seven and right now it is hard to back anyone against the Reds.

The FA Cup may be put on the Liverpool backburner depending on how the other competitions are going but if they get favourable draws, a second-string side may be enough to reach the final.

It remains to be seen how many trophies that Slot’s side finish with but one thing is for sure, it has been a tremendous campaign so far.
